The Segeberg Scoop - March 2007
Well, here it is: the end of another month and time for another Segeberg Scoop. I was thinking about these the other day and I realized it’s been almost three years since I started them. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long!
March was a very interesting month-full of roller coasters. To begin with, we finally closed on our condo. As Ryan said, we stumbled to the finish on that one. None of the stumbling, however, was on our end. We signed the papers on Tuesday evening, right on schedule. Our buyer was supposed to sign them, according to our contract, no later than Wednesday evening. On Thursday evening we got a call from the mortgage guy telling us that our buyer had a "family emergency" and was $1000 short on her closing costs...and could we contribute any money? Both Ryan and I said NO WAY. We stewed about the situation all night Thursday. Friday morning, just before Ryan was going to cash the earnest money check, he called the mortgage guy to tell him that we were done with the whole drama. It was a good thing he had called because they had ended up closing Thursday night anyway. Our first thought was "Thanks for telling us!!" By then, we were just glad it was over and we could move on.
And move on we did...just before closing, we moved into my parents’ basement temporarily. Although we were nervous about how things would work with 2 families living under one roof, things have gone smoothly so far. They were going well enough that we were considering staying here for the duration of grad school. Added to this thought was that there weren’t any 3 bedroom, first floor places open at Wymount. We started looking at other rental options around Provo, but there was nothing in our size and price range. Just when we thought that we were going to stay here for a LONG time-several 3 bedroom, first floor places opened up at Wymount. As of this past Monday, we are contracted to live in Wymount starting in the middle of June. Ryan and I are both looking forward to the next phase of life.
Speaking of the next phase of life, we finally received the news that Ryan has been accepted into the Computer Science Master’s program at BYU. The letter took an extra long time getting here because it was forwarded from our old address. But, we are very happy about the situation and look forward to Ryan’s classes starting in the Fall.
On to the family side of things...Whitney is growing and becoming more alert every day! She loves to smile and coo at anyone-and I love to sit and have conversations with her. She is one of the happiest, most pleasant-tempered babies I have seen. Whitney also loves smiling at her sister Kallie and being held by her. So far, the two of them seem like best friends. Kallie is always begging to "hohd you, Nee-Nee" and loves to be around her sister.
Kallie’s communication is continuing to expand by leaps and bounds. She forms longer sentences every day-and keeps Ryan and me laughing. She loves to play with Maa-Maw, (Grandma), See-yuh, (Carissa), and Moo-Moo, (Mirinda)...although Moo-Moo is definitely her favorite. What 2-year old wouldn’t love an aunt who blows bubbles with her every day? Every night, Kallie makes sure that her favorite pals are in bed with her. These pals are her Elmo, doggie, and Pumber (Larry the Cucumber from VeggieTales). Kallie LOVES to sing and at any moment can be caught singing the ABC’s, Twinkle Star, or any song that she makes up. She has recently learned that when her clothes are not on she’s naked and will say, "I nay-ted" when we’re changing her clothes. Along those same lines, Ryan was getting her dressed after a bath the other day and Kallie started singing, "Nay-ted, nay-ted, nay-ted, nay-ted..." to the tune of the ABC’s. I just asked Ryan if there was anything else we should include and he said that we could probably write a book about all of the cute things Kallie has done in the past month! I think he’s probably right!
As for Ryan and I, we’re just plugging along doing our daily duties. I am looking forward to getting a double stroller so I can take the girls out to enjoy the beautiful spring weather we’ve had so much of lately. Other than that, my goings-on are pretty boring-unless that you think folding mountains of laundry, changing millions of diapers, and building block towers with Kallie is exciting.
I hope you have all had a wonderful March! We’re looking forward to General Conference, visits from family, and Ryan’s graduation ceremony in April... looks like there will be lots to report in the next Scoop! Until then, we send you and your family the best!
Love,
Ryan, Amanda, Kallie, & Whitney
