The Segeberg Scoop - November 2006

I can’t believe how fast the month of November is passing! Time flies when you’re having fun—and it sure has been a fun month for us.

Kallie has been the main reason for our fun this month! She is talking up a STORM these days! And we love to hear her talk, (so far). It seems that every day, she pops out with another word that we didn’t know she knew yet! My two favorite words she says right now are “hm-meem” (ice cream) and “lalak” (blanket). This month, Kallie has also decided that she LOVES Elmo! We’re not sure how she decided that Elmo was so great, but one day, she noticed that there was a picture of Elmo on her diaper and she’s been into him ever since. One of Kallie’s new favorite activities is looking at the Children’s Hymnbook, playing the piano, and singing. She will sit for at least an hour singing and playing at the piano. If we try to move her, we’re on the receiving end of some of the worst tantrums we’ve seen! Hopefully, getting her to practice the piano in the future will be as easy as it is now! :) We also hope that it will be as easy to get her to help with cleaning the house as it is now. Kallie is such a great helper and she loves to dust with mommy, help put away her toys, and throw things in the garbage.

Ryan is doing great at school! He has a little over three weeks to go this semester and so far, he’s ahead in one class and right on track with the other. It’s a bit of a relief that he’s doing so well! He was recently given a few new assignments at work, in addition to those he already had. Another team had noticed that Ryan was willing to just jump in and figure things out, so while they’re in a pinch, they’re utilizing his computer talents. The assignment is supposed to be temporary, ending close to the end of the year when that team releases their product. In the very few minutes of spare time that Ryan has, he is contemplating what he’s going to do with all of the extra time he’ll have after graduating. I told him not to worry…I can come up with plenty of things to keep him busy! He’s looking forward to spending more time with his daughters, completing a few odds and ends around the house, and getting in some leisure reading and video games! I’m excited for him to enjoy all of his plans!

We’re also getting more and more excited for our little one’s arrival. I have made a few preparations so far, such as setting up her bassinet and getting baby clothes and blankets ready for her. It just seems like there should be more I need to do to prepare for her arrival. I guess with the second one, there isn’t as much to get ready. I’m feeling pretty well, although I’m much more exhausted by the end of the day than I have been up to this point. I started weekly non-stress tests last week and the doctor has ordered another bile salt test for next week. Depending on how those test results look, we’ll have a baby here in 2 ½ weeks or less! I’m trying to get all of my Christmas stuff taken care of before the end of November, so I won’t have to worry about it after she gets here. Between doctor appointments, preparations for the baby, chasing after Kallie, and taking care of Christmas, I’m keeping pretty busy!

We hope your holiday season is wonderful and look forward to sending out more news in a few short weeks!

Love,

Ryan, Amanda, & Kallie Segeberg
