The Segeberg Scoop - August 2006
August has been such a great month for the Segebergs! Time is flying by and we can’t believe it’s almost time for school to start again.
Our headliner this month is our bun in the oven. Ryan and I were able to go in for an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago. This baby is measuring perfectly for the end of December and has all of the proper parts in all of the right places. And, we were also able to find out that Kallie will have a baby sister in December. Since we enjoy the first one so much, we are definitely thrilled to have another little daughter come into our home!
Kallie continues to grow and learn on a daily basis. It always amazes us how quickly she can pick something up. She has started saying so many words lately, it’s hard to keep track of all of them! Although, most of them are still unintelligible to anyone but Ryan and I, (at least until we provide translation). Kallie has also come up with a few new “tricks” lately. Recently, she learned that if she bumps her head or bangs a rubber ball on the glass doors of our entertainment center, they will pop open and provide access to all of the neat electronic equipment inside. Trying to keep her out of that, alone, is a full-time job! Also, last week, Kallie and I were visiting my parents’ house. Kallie was toddling back and forth through the living room and suddenly threw herself down on the floor. She peeked up at us and said, “Uh-OH!,” and then she got right back up and did it again, (Uh-OH included), about 2 seconds later. I think she threw herself on the floor about 30 times before she got tired of the game. We couldn’t help but laugh at her antics, though!
Ryan has been managing to keep himself busy, in spite of the break from classes. Ryan prepped the bathtub area for the installation of our new shower surround. It turned out really well and we are definitely enjoying it! There was a bit of difference in the sizing of the old surround and the new, so Ryan has been busy prepping the wall to paint the gap. About this same time, we discovered that the apartment upstairs was leaking into our utility closet and damaged the floor in our hall. So, our next project is to get that all taken care of. Last week, Ryan went on the annual Segeberg Father/Son campout with his dad, brothers, and nephews. He had a great time playing with his family for the week. (Kallie and I got to see them, too, and it was great to spend time with them!) Ryan is getting ready to take the GRE in a little over a week. Our current plan is that he will apply for a Master’s at BYU and continue to work while going to school. It will be exciting to see how that all comes together over the next few months.
My days lately have been filled with chasing Kallie around the house. She has such an active little mind that staying in her play area is very confining for her now. We’re still in the process of baby proofing the rest of the house, so I’ve been VERY busy keeping her out of everything. At the beginning of the month, I threw a baby shower for a sister in my ward. It was a lot of work, but turned out well in the end. Other than that, I haven’t had much time to do anything else than the normal day-to-day activities. I’m still trying to start the project that I mentioned in the last Scoop. Oh well, I guess that’s the life of a toddler’s mommy!
That’s all for the month of August! I hope you have had a great summer! We look forward to hearing from you!
Love,
Ryan, Amanda, and Kallie
