The Segeberg Scoop - July 2006

I really can’t believe how quickly July has passed. I feel like it was just a week ago that I sent out the May/June Scoop—and here it is almost August!

Kallie has grown by leaps and bounds during the past month. She is still relatively the same size—but she has learned so much! A few weeks ago, she started saying “Ball,” (her favorite toy), instead of just signing it when she wants to play with it. Just this past week, when we tell her we’re going to brush her teeth, she has started to say “teeth!” We think she must love the taste of the toothpaste. Kallie also cracks us up with her new physical abilities. Any time she hears any kind of music, wherever we happen to be, she’ll start dancing. She just loves to move to the music! She is also extremely expressive in her facial expressions. We rarely have to guess what might be going on in her little head because her face often betrays what she’s thinking. We have really been amazed by her ability to communicate her feelings. It is just such a joy to watch her grow!

Ryan has been plugging away at work and enjoying the short break from school. About the time school was ending—and finals were starting, his work team was pushing to get their product out the door. It made for a crazy time for Ryan! But, it all came together and he had a few slow days before having to jump back into business at work. He’s been spending some of his evening time studying for the GRE, which he will take in about a month. It will be exciting when he starts turning applications in this fall for grad school! Other than that, he’s been trying to keep himself busy doing projects around the house and taking care of the car. This next weekend, he is going to be doing a little more work on our shower to prepare to have a new surround installed. After that’s completed, we’ll have a few odds and ends to finish up before putting our little place on the market. It’s hard to believe we’re getting ready to sell our first home already. No matter where we end up going for grad school, we are certainly outgrowing this little home—especially with our next little munchkin coming in a few months.

Speaking of the munchkin, everything is going great! In a little less than two weeks, I will reach the halfway point and get to have an ultrasound. Hopefully, we’ll also be able to find out whether Kallie is having a brother or a sister at that appointment. I’ve been feeling much better these past few weeks and have had some of my energy return. It has been wonderful to be able to accomplish more than the bare minimum lately. I hope to start a decorating project for Kallie’s room this week in preparation for selling our home.

That’s about all from the Segebergs this month. I hope your July was wonderful and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Love,

Ryan, Amanda, and Kallie
