The Segeberg Scoop - April 2006
Since April is over in a little over 3 hours, I decided that it was probably time for another Scoop! Life has been pretty busy for us this month—and we have really enjoyed every bit of it.
April was a month of visitors for us! The month started off with a visit from Mom and Dad Segeberg. It was so fun to have them here and spend some time with them. Since time with them is fairly rare, we enjoy every opportunity we have to see them. We’re certainly looking forward to visiting them in Seattle at the end of May. Later in the month, my college roommate Rachel came to stay with us for a weekend. I really enjoyed having her here and reminiscing about our crazy college days. While she was here, our small group of close friends was able to get together and hang out. It sure brought back some fun memories!
Kallie is still growing like a little weed. I bought some sign language videos at the beginning of the month and Kallie LOVES watching them. Every time I say (and sign) to her “Signing Time,” she crawls toward the T.V. and starts to dance. She signs doggie all the time now and picked up the sign for “wash hands” during this past week. I am always amazed by what she learns! Kallie absolutely loves to dance. Every time any kind of music can be heard, whether on a commercial, on her videos, from one of her toys, or when mommy and daddy are singing, she’ll start dancing. It makes Ryan and I laugh every time! Another thing that makes us laugh is that Kallie has started “leading” music. When she hears choral music, (at church, during Conference, etc.), she will start waving her hand around like she’s leading the music. We think she picked it up when the choir sang as we were watching General Conference. It’s so cute to watch her lead! We obviously just get such a kick out of Kallie and really enjoy her!
Ryan finished up winter semester this past week and has a short break, (a few days), before heading back into Spring term. He’s taking one class during the term, but it’s equivalent to 2 classes. We’re both glad that it’s only a 6 week term. After it’s over, he’ll take a break for the Summer before starting his last 2 classes in the Fall. He did well this semester and, as always, I think he’s amazing! Ryan is still training for the Salt Lake City Marathon, which he will run on June 3. This past Saturday, he ran 20 miles! And, he still managed to help someone move, spend time with Kallie while I was gone, go grocery shopping, and clean the house! Sometimes I wonder if he ever stops! Next Saturday, he will run 22 miles and then ease down the mileage until the marathon. It will be so fun to watch him reach his goal.
As for me, life is still just normal. I finished making Kallie’s Easter dress the Saturday before Easter. I was really pleased with the way it turned out. It’s a little big, but she’ll be able to grow into it over the next several months. I have also started hosting a signing playgroup at my house once a week for the sisters in my ward. It’s fun to have people over and be able to share something that I’m so excited about. Other than that, I’m just enjoying being Kallie’s mom and looking for new projects to get myself into.
As you can tell, April has been a wonderful month for us and we look forward to the opportunities that May has in store!
Love,
Amanda, Ryan, and Kallie
