The Segeberg Spook - October 2005
I guess I’m feeling a little Halloween-y this month! Actually, I haven’t been feeling it until tonight when we went with my parents to their ward Halloween party. Not too exciting, but it was nice.
I’m actually looking forward to Halloween this year because we have a baby to dress up. Kallie won’t remember a thing, but it’s still fun for mommy to play dress-up with her! My mom and I made her costume this afternoon. She’s a Kallie-pillar this year! (There’s a picture of her attached to this month’s Scoop!) I had a lot of fun planning her costume and I’m already starting to think of ideas for next year when she’ll be toddling.
It seems like the most interesting things that have happened this month are all about Kallie. Probably the most exciting news around our house is that Kallie finally rolled from back to front. She passed the milestone less than a week before her 5 month mark. We thought it would be great because then she could start rolling to get a toy or two. But, in the past few weeks, I think she’s decided rolling onto her tummy isn’t that great. She actually likes being on her back and so she doesn’t turn over much anymore.
The second most exciting news is that we moved Kallie into her own room a couple of weeks ago. Being short on space, the original plan was to have a combined office and baby’s room. However, with the fact that Ryan is doing homework later than Kallie’s bedtime every night, and Kallie doesn’t sleep well with light and noise, that combination just wasn’t possible. So, now Kallie has her own room while we share a room with the computers. Oh the sacrifices we make for our children! :)
When asked what I should include this month, Ryan said, “Your husband is insanely busy with school.” Which, sadly enough, is true. There are so many school assignments for him to accomplish on a weekly basis that I have no idea how he gets it all done. But, there are only about 6 weeks left in the semester and then he’ll have a long, very well-deserved break. I think I’m looking forward to that break as much as he is!
This month, I was finally able to finish my parents’ Christmas gift from last year! In August 2004, I started soliciting childhood stories from my siblings to begin a Pettit Family History for my parents. The stories were finally all submitted by August of THIS year and then I formatted them and scrapbooked title pages for each child’s, (or family’s), section. I had a great time doing it! It turned out well and we have enjoyed hearing the stories we had forgotten from the other kids in the family.
Well, that’s it for October. Have a fun Halloween! Until next month…
Love, Ryan, Amanda and Kallie
