The Segeberg Scoop - July 2005

It’s hard to believe it’s already August. I’ve been planning to write the July Scoop for about 2 weeks now…and here I am finally getting to it!

July has been a great month for us! Ryan started his new job, which he is really enjoying. His boss is very impressed with his abilities and trusts him to do whatever needs to be done. In fact, the other day, one of the full-timers, (who has been there for about 5 years), wasn’t sure how to accomplish a task. When she asked the boss, he told her to ask Ryan because he would know how. In all honesty, this doesn’t surprise me, as computer science is something that clicks in Ryan’s mind…and he’s a hard worker. Altiris has been going through some layoffs lately, and although we haven’t been affected, we hope that’s the case for at least the next year.

Speaking of the next year…we’re looking forward to Ryan graduating! I think I have “Senior-itis” for him as he’s beginning his Senior year at the end of August. I get all excited when I think about him being done with school. And then, I remember that he’s going to grad school after this, and my excitement wanes a bit. But, grad school will be a whole new adventure. Ryan hasn’t narrowed down exactly where he wants to apply yet. Although I love it here, I keep hoping that we’ll go somewhere other than Utah. It would just be fun to try something different.

Kallie is growing like a little weed! She’s starting to look more like a baby and less like a newborn. I’m sad because she’s losing the fuzzy hair she’s had since she was born. Pretty soon, we’re going to have a bald baby! She has started smiling ALL the time and wants to be part of everything that’s going on. She often gets frustrated because she’s not able to sit up yet and be part of things. (She can’t even roll over yet for that matter!) But, she’s working hard at it and before long, I know she’ll want to be crawling and walking instead of just sitting.

I’m finally settling in to being at home all day. Kallie has put herself on a great little schedule and I’m able to get a lot done while she’s sleeping. It’s nice to have things a little more calm and predictable now. This week, I’m going to Arizona for my nephew’s baby blessing. My brother, Tommy, had a little boy they named Jackson. From the pictures I’ve seen, he’s a cute little bug. I’m looking forward to seeing them.

Finally, we’re getting our little condo ready to put on the market in the next couple of months. Ryan and I were laughing the other night that we just finished getting everything the way we want it—and now it’s time to think about moving again! We don’t plan to move until next summer, but in the event that we go to grad school out of state, we don’t want to be stuck trying to sell our condo at the last minute. If we happen to sell it before we leave for grad school, then we’ll find a place to rent for a few months.

That’s it for this month! Hope to hear from all of you when you get a chance!
