The Segeberg Scoop - June 2005

I think I say this at the beginning of every Scoop, but I can’t believe that June has already come and gone. I guess there are many things that have been keeping us busy…and time passes more quickly when you’re keeping busy.

Of course, I’ll begin with Kallie. It’s hard to believe that our little “bean,” (as we affectionately call her), is 2 months old! It is so fun to watch her grow and learn. During the past week, she started smiling. It still doesn’t happen very often—and it can take a lot of work to get one out of her, but it’s definitely worth it! She’s still growing and is more and more alert every day. We love having her in our home and watching her as she develops and discovers the world around her.

This past month has been an exciting one for Ryan. He started the summer school term, much to my dismay! He is taking one class—and will be studying for the GRE. Soon after the term started, he was offered an internship position with Altiris, (an IT software company), as a software engineer. He will now have to commute about 15 minutes each way to Lindon every day. Although I will miss having him so close, I’m thrilled for his new opportunity to gain more experience in his field.

Ryan was also released from serving as ward librarian and accepted two other callings within the ward. He will now serve as an Elder’s Quorum teacher and the secretary in the Sunday School presidency. I think he’s going to be fabulous in both callings. He’s so organized and on top of things that he will be a great blessing to the Sunday School. And, he’s such a patient, insightful teacher that the Elders he teaches will benefit greatly from his lessons.

On top of all of that, Ryan has recently started a landscaping project at our building. He’s creating a brick border for a planting area which we hope to finish up this week. (“We” meaning that I’m going to help him plant the plants. He’s doing everything else.) It’s hard to keep him sitting still for long!

In comparison, my life has been extremely boring this past month. I’m still adjusting to being a stay-at-home mom. Some days, it seems that Kallie won’t let me put her down for longer than 5-10 minutes. On those days, I have to remind myself that I’m accomplishing a lot by cuddling my child. Other days, she sleeps very well and I’m able to complete everything on my list.

One more thing…At the moment, I’m planning to go down to Arizona at the end of July/beginning of August for my nephew’s baby blessing. If you’re down there and would like to get together while I’m there, please send me your phone number so I can call you while I’m there.

Well—that’s our news for the month! Have a wonderful and happy July!

Love,

Ryan, Amanda, and Kallie
