The Segeberg Half Scoop - May 2005
I was going to try to wait until the end of the month to get this sent out, but I just can't wait!
Our little Segebug has arrived! Kallie Sabra Segeberg was born on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 10:50 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and was 18 1/2 inches long. She has brown hair and big eyes and is one of the cutest little people I have ever seen. Of course, I realize I'm a little biased. :) Because she was 3 weeks early, she was "grunting" when breathing and had a slight heart murmur. They kept her in the "Level II Nursery" for about 2 days. She was released to the "Well Baby Nursery" on Monday and stayed in my room the entire time after that. (I just didn't want to let her out of my sight!) By the time we went home, she no longer had the heart murmur.
We went into the hospital at about 9 a.m. and they tried to turn her from the outside. It was VERY painful and I was brusied for a few days afterwards from the process. Since that wasn't working, they decided to give me a spinal to numb me and relax my muscles and try again. That way, if the turning didn't work, I'd already be numbed for a c-section. Well, they turned her almost all the way and her heartrate dropped. It just wasn't working...so 10 minutes later, she was born via c-section.
My recovery is going VERY well. The worst part of the whole thing was the nausea from the anesthetic. It took almost an entire day for that to wear off. It was probably a good thing that she was in the Level II Nursery at first because it made me get up and out of bed sooner than I probably would have otherwise. I was walking by Sunday morning...just to see my baby! I really haven't had any pain from the experience, though. I've been sore a couple of times, but nothing worse than having my wisdom teeth out! :)
Oh--you probably would like to see pictures of our little one. Our website is www.segebergs.org/ryan. Just enter the site and click on "Kallie." It's amazing to me how much she has changed even in the week since she's been born. And, I can't believe it's already been a week! I can't even start to think about months or years from now!
That's all for now...Have a great week!
