The Segeberg Scoop - April 2005
April came and went in the blink of an eye! At the beginning of the month, it seemed like the end would never come...and now I can't believe it's almost over.
To begin with, Ryan finished his semester. This was a HUGE deal to me because during the last few weeks of school, I hardly got to see him. He was so busy with projects and papers that he was either behind the computer or driving off to his next group meeting. He's been done for almost a week now and it has been WONDERFUL to actually spend some time with him! So far, the grades that have come in are super...but knowing Ryan, I didn't think they'd be anything but that!
Our next news is our little Segebug. Everything is moving along, just as it should, and she (and my belly) is growing like crazy! We had an ultrasound a little over a week ago and they estimated that she weighed 5 lb 14 oz. Although weight estimations from ultrasounds this late in pregnancy can be off by as much as a pound, we expect that she'll be somewhere around 7 lbs. when she comes in two weeks. During the ultrasound, we got to see her little face, (with teeny little lips), and that she has lots of hair! We also found out that she's "frank breech," which means she's bum down right now--so her little head is up under my ribs! I'm trying everything I can to get her to turn. I'm confident, though, that she will turn before it's time to arrive. Many people have asked specifically which day they're inducing me. At this point, all we know is that it will be around May 6. It just depends on how long it takes to prepare my body for the process. It's hard to believe that by next month's Scoop, we'll have a new little person in our house!
This week will be my last week of work before I get to take on my dream job. :) I've been counting down the days until I get to be a stay at home mom! This past week, I've started training my replacement. I was worried about the person who would take over for me and how she would manage my students, but she seems great so far. I'm having a teeny bit of a hard time leaving my girls, (my receptionists). They're such great girls and we've had such great talks. I've made them all promise that they'll come over and see me from time to time. (Having a baby here, I don't think it will be too hard to convince them!) I'll have a week after I quit to finish preparing for the baby. It will be nice to have that time.
Since school is now over, Ryan, (aka Energizer Bunny), has decided that it's time to paint the kitchen. It's a small project compared to the others he's taken on since becoming a home owner. :) He pulled everything out yesterday afternoon and is putting everything back in as I type. The kitchen was the one room in the house we haven't painted since we moved in--and now it's done, too! It looks great.
The other big news, (probably only big to me), is that we FINALLY got the office organized and set up the baby's stuff. It's much roomier than it has been. There's actually a place for everything and room to spare! It's been great to have walking room in there. Next week, we're rearranging the bedroom so the baby's bed can go in there for a while. For the first time since we moved in, I feel organized. It feels SO good. We'll have to post pictures soon so you can all share in my excitement!
Well--I think that's all for this month. I'm already looking forward to reporting the events of May... Have a great month. Please drop us a line when you get a moment!
Love,
Amanda, Ryan, and Segebug
