The Segeberg Scoop - August 2004
Well--it's been another month. And, after re-reading our July Scoop, I realized how boring the last month has been. Really, not a whole lot has happened for us.
At the beginning of August, my younger brother, Spencer, married Laura Rawlings. They met 5 years ago at EFY, of all places. The wedding was wonderful and Spencer and Laura now live about 3 minutes from us in Provo. Their wedding marks the last major event of the summer for my family. Now it's a matter of recovering! :)
This past week, Ryan went camping with his dad, brother, Rick, and nephew, Taylor. They headed up to Tony Grove in northern Utah and hiked, camped, and fished. While he was gone, I realized that we haven't been apart since Ryan returned from Christmas break last December. And, I also realized why! He wasn't gone for very long--in fact, people almost laughed when I told them that I missed him after a day--but, life is just better when he's around.
It was great to have Dad Segeberg here for a couple of days. He came over for dinner and of course, the rice was crunchy and the gravy salty! But, the turkey turned out alright. It was edible--and it was wonderful to have time to sit and chat and just spend time. Saturday, we had a picnic with Rick's family and Dad Segeberg. That was also a lot of fun and we enjoyed hanging out with everyone.
This past month, we also found out that Ryan's random sickness on our honeymoon was actually gall stone attacks. He had a sonogram, (before I ever had one!), and discovered he's got 4 little guys hanging out in his gall bladder. The plan for now is to have another test done to determine whether surgery is needed or not. We're not sure when that test will take place.
This next month, things will start to pick up again. Ryan starts school again next week. I'm not looking forward to that, since he'll be busy with several large projects all at once. We're also planning to get a little camping in before the official end of summer. That may or may not happen, since the leaves at the top of Y Mountain are already beginning to change.
That's it for this month! I hope you have a wonderful month! Please write and let us know how you're doing.
Love,
Amanda and Ryan
